When “might be suitable” isn’t good enough when you’re recruiting for STEM roles.
In manufacturing and engineering, the best candidates are rarely sitting on job boards waiting to be found.
That was the challenge facing a Bristol-based business looking for specialist talent across Embedded, Firmware, Electronics and Systems Engineering. They were introduced to us through a referral from an existing client, which is often how our strongest relationships begin.
A business has a hiring challenge, someone they trust points them in our direction, and the first conversation starts with a little more confidence on both sides.
The challenge itself was familiar.
They needed genuinely specialist engineering talent in a competitive market. Not generic CVs. Not loosely matched profiles. Not candidates who “might be suitable” once someone technical had spent half an hour trying to work it out.
They needed a recruitment partner who could understand the requirements properly from the start. That depth matters.
When you are recruiting for Embedded, Firmware, Electronics or Systems Engineering roles, the detail is not optional. The difference between a strong match and a wasted interview can come down to the technologies used, the environment someone has worked in, the product lifecycle they understand, or the type of engineering problems they have solved before.
So we took the time to get under the skin of the brief.
We looked beyond job titles and worked to understand the technical requirements, the business context and the type of candidate who would actually fit.
That meant candidates were properly qualified before they ever reached the client, saving time, reducing noise and giving hiring managers confidence that the people in front of them were worth speaking to.
The relationship did not stop at one role. Over five years, we have delivered more than 25 placements across Embedded, Firmware, Electronics and Systems Engineering.
More importantly, we are still working with them today. That says more than any single placement could. Because specialist recruitment is not just about filling the role in front of you. It is about understanding the market, building trust over time and becoming the kind of partner a business comes back to when the next hard-to-fill role lands.
If your manufacturing or engineering roles are taking too long to fill, or your current channels are not reaching the right people, we should talk.
